SerialDriver evaluated the wheel base with a demanding circuit-and-car combination: Sebring and the Radical SR10, followed by a rally session with a separate SimPro Manager profile. That is a useful way to expose both sides of a high-torque Direct Drive wheel base. What does 28 Nm really change?
Maximum torque is not the same as the force you should run continuously. The useful concept is torque headroom. When a simulator asks for a large steering-force peak, a wheel base with extra reserve can reproduce it without clipping as early.

The strongest impression from SerialDriver’s test is the familiar Simagic character: the Alpha EVO Ultra is lively and demonstrative. It delivers pronounced peaks and makes the steering feel physical, particularly with a nervous car such as the Radical SR10.
Detail and road texture
Small steering inputs and surface changes remain perceptible beneath the larger forces. On a circuit like Sebring, that separation is useful: road texture, kerb detail and chassis load should not collapse into the same sensation.
Torque build-up and clipping
The 28 Nm reserve gives the base room to build force progressively before a major peak. This is where the Ultra differs most clearly from a lower-torque model. The advantage is not constant heaviness; it is keeping strong effects distinct when the steering load rises.
Oscillation and filters
SerialDriver found the base reasonably controlled for oscillation, but also noted that it needs to be restrained through the software. SimPro Manager lets you work with damping, friction, game-requested effects and response settings. With 28 Nm available, tuning is part of the product—not an optional afterthought.
Setup advice: start with a lower maximum torque and conservative filters. Increase force only after checking clipping, oscillation on straights and fatigue over several laps. Save separate profiles for circuit racing and rally.
What to expect in iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate, ACC and rally games
The result depends on each game’s force feedback implementation, car and settings. The Alpha EVO Ultra’s reserve is most useful when a title sends dense information or large transient forces.
iRacing
On iRacing-style circuit sessions, high-speed load changes, kerb impacts and steering weight are the obvious areas to evaluate. A high-torque base can preserve stronger peaks without clipping, but the in-game strength still needs to be set car by car. The Radical SR10 at Sebring is a demanding benchmark because it combines a physical steering load with sharp chassis reactions.
Le Mans Ultimate (LMU)
SerialDriver specifically mentions LMU as a title that sends a lot of information. On Le Mans Ultimate, running every effect and filter too high risks masking tyre load and front-end behaviour. The Ultra has the speed and reserve to handle dense force feedback, but it benefits from cleaner, lower filter values rather than maximum intensity everywhere.
Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC)
ACC’s GT3 and GT2 cars make sustained steering load, kerb detail and tyre behaviour more relevant than raw peak force. The 28 Nm headroom can keep those forces separated, yet an Alpha EVO Pro 18 Nm may already cover this use case for many drivers—especially over long endurance stints.
EA SPORTS WRC and Assetto Corsa Rally
Rally places more emphasis on rapid countersteer, surface transitions and the ability to let the wheel rotate freely through the hands. Separate rally settings with reduced friction or damping can make more sense than reusing a heavy circuit profile. It is not automatically the best Simagic wheel base for every buyer. The Alpha EVO Pro 18 Nm remains the more balanced high-performance option for many GT, endurance and prototype setups. The Ultra is the step beyond: more headroom, more physical presence and more responsibility in the settings.
