Sim-Lab Direct Drive Wheel Bases

With the TorqueSync platform, Sim-Lab steps into the direct drive segment with an approach that sets it apart from the rest of the sim racing market: these bases are built as genuine industrial servo systems rather than adapted from existing motor designs. Developed in partnership with SOLO Motorcontrollers, the DDS26 and DDS39 share an identical chassis, encoder, processing and connectivity — only torque and power separate them.

At the core of both bases sits a radial-flux inner-runner AC brushless servo motor (SPMSM) with harmonised magnet pairs and distributed-wound stator cores, driven by a 350 VDC high-voltage architecture. The patented TorqueSync processing layer runs a multithreaded DSP control loop at over 100,000 updates per second, translating simulator physics into motor torque with minimal latency — tyre slip, road texture and load transitions come through clearly instead of being lost in processing noise. A 24-bit encoder resolves roughly 16 million discrete positions. The DDS39 is the flagship, pairing 39 Nm with a 2,500 W peak stage on a 40 A bus for maximum headroom through the heaviest sustained loads. The DDS26 delivers 26 Nm with a 1,500 W peak stage at 25 A, covering the vast majority of GT, formula and endurance driving without compromise.

Both bases integrate their power supply into the housing — one mains cable, no external brick — and include Safe Torque Off with active fan cooling. The open Ø70 mm M5 bolt pattern accepts Sim-Lab, GRID Engineering and third-party steering wheels with no proprietary lock-in, alongside USB passthrough and a 5V / 2.5A wheel-side power line.
