Does the XERO-PLAY V2 only work on a Sim-Lab wheelbase?

No. It integrates natively with the DDS TorqueSync, but works on any wheelbase using a 70 mm PCD mount, connecting through the standalone USB-C connection. Data passthrough is optional, so the quick release remains fully usable even on bases that do not support it.

Will it work with my existing wheel?

Almost certainly. The Ø70 mm M5 bolt pattern fits virtually every sim racing wheel. Sim-Lab and GRID Engineering wheels connect natively through the internal 8-pin connector, and any third-party wheel with a USB connection uses the supplied USB-C stubby cable. Ascher, BavarianSimTec, GSI and VPG wheels have an internal connector cable available on request. Only proprietary non-USB protocols, such as the Fanatec hub and the Simucube wireless link, are out of scope.

Which version should I order?

The complete set includes both the base side and the wheel side, and is what you need to equip a wheelbase with a first wheel. The wheel side is sold on its own to add further wheels to an existing XERO-PLAY V2 setup, at a much lower cost per wheel.

Why is the wheel-side module simpler than the base side?

Deliberately so. The base side carries every connection, every session, for years, and that is where the precision engineering is concentrated. Keeping the wheel side lean means adding wheels to your collection stays affordable, without compromising the connection quality.

Is there any play in the connection?

No. The push-to-lock, lever-release mechanism follows the same quick release principles used in real motorsport, engineered for zero tolerance for play. It locks in with a positive click, with no alignment guesswork, and releases cleanly with a pull of the lever.
